Step by step

  1. Open the chat and tap the three dots at the top right, then Customize chat. (Or tap the name at the top, then Customize chat.)
  2. Tap Chat wallpaper.
  3. Pick a colour or a pattern; it applies at once. Choose the first tile to go back to the default.
